As a Marine Development Engineer at Ilmor, you will play a key role in the development of next-generation marine powertrain technologies, working hands-on with combustion engines, electric propulsion systems, military programs and advanced electronic controls. If you thrive on solving complex technical challenges and want to see your work power some of the most advanced marine products in the industry, this is the opportunity for you.Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):Design, build, and operate tests/apparatuses required for development programsCreate, organize, and execute DVP&Rs for products in developmentConduct thorough testing and certification to ensure compliance with industry standardsConceptualize and assembly prototype designsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to test and validate designs on boatsWork hands-on to build prototypes and troubleshoot issues during the development processInterface directly with suppliers regarding quality and supply chain managementDocument all design processes, test results, and modifications for future referencePerform a variety of tasks as needed in a small company environment, contributing to different aspects of the businessNuts & Bolts:On-site position: M-F at our Marine Engine Technical Center in New Hudson, MIDay-1 benefits: Medical, Dental, VisionPaid time offAnnual bonus programPaid holidays (including a Christmas-New Years' shutdown)Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field2-5 years of experience with electrical engineering, test engineering, or prototype designProven experience with instrumentation equipment and executing verification testsStrong understanding of marine powertrain systems and their electrical componentsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearlyExperience with industry-standard testing and certification processesFamiliarity with marine industry standards and regulationsExperience with CAD softwareUnderstanding of PCB layouts and ability to troubleshoot PCB problemsKnowledge of power electronics and motor control systemsHands-on experience in building and testing prototypes including soldering and electronic assemblyPreferred Qualifications:Experience writing in C++ or Python languagesPCB design experienceExperience operating, docking, and trailering boats under 30'Solidworks experiencePhysical Requirements/Work Environment:The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand.
